The deceased, a 72-year old female and a resident of Polpithigama in Kurunegala, was the 171st patient to test positive for the virus in the country. Dr. Jasinghe noted that the patient had died while receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital. Sri Lanka has reported a total of 721 confirmed coronavirus infections, among which 194 have recovered, official figures show.
